5.28.2005Cheap SkateStarting on June 1st and running until the end of August, Akron will be having nearly nightly free concerts. Monday night concerts will be held at Hardesty Park, Tuesday will be at Firestone Park. Wendnesday will be host to two concerts, Shadyside Park in the evening and at Cascade Plaza for lunch break concerts (11:45 to 1:15). Thursday concerts will be held at Summit ArtSpace located at the corner of E. Market and Summit. Finally, Friday concerts will be held at the Goodyear Heights MetroPark. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday concerts start at 7 and go until 9. Thursday at ArtSpace, concerts run from 6:30 until 8:30.The Akron Symphony will be performing 4 free performances (June 20, June 25, July 4, and July 8) as part of this concert series. The Ohio Ballet will also be preforming 8 times for free (July 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 and August 5 and 6). All the performances are free, but the city is asking people to buy buttons to support the series. They run five bucks.
