5.23.2005First Lady Whirlwind TourLaura Bush is the person I respect the most in the current presidential administration. I like that she doesn't always agree with her hubby and can be quite vocal about that. Now, Mrs. Dubya is in hangin' out in the Middle East and talking up women's rights. She also visited some of the most holy sites in both the Jewish and Islamic faiths to try to help build some bridges that have been destroyed by the war in the Middle East and here in the US. Of course there were protesters, nothing can be too easy for a Bush...At the Dome of the Rock, protesters approached the first lady as she tried to enter the mosque, and security helped clear a path for her.We can't expect Laura to go over there and be welcomed with open arms by all the people. Sure, some were happy that Laura went and made a nice political gesture, but that same gesture could be viewed as a slap in the face to people who have lost family because of all the fighting from the war and years of violence.
