5.12.2005Go Green! Not the city, but the grass. Seven area communities have been awarded grants to help pay for park and recreation projects. About 2 million bucks went out to parks in Ohio. About $165k is going to the seven area towns (Wadsworth, Twinsburg, Lawrence, Alliance, Canton, Spencer and Smithville).I have to admit, I'm becoming a big fan of the park system. I used to think we should just pave 'em all and put up a mall, but the older I get the more I realize how nice the parks are. When I was in college, I lived two blocks from a park. Whenever I needed to get away from school's stresses, I'd head over to the park and sit on a wall or by a pond. Now I see even more value in the parks. Since working, I've been using the parks (particularly Sand Run) as a way to escape the everyday mundane things in life and get back to nature (just a little bit).
