Good People

Every now and then I like reading a good, heart-warming story. This is definitely one of those. Libby Jacobs is one of the area arties, and she has dedicated a good part of her time and energy into making the world a better place.

During her time working in the dramatic arts, she's become actively involved in helping those with HIV/AIDS, cooking meals for them and serving on the board of Community AIDS Network in Akron. She was instrumental in the development of the Micah House for people with HIV, and later Harmony Place, for families affected by the disease. Then she contributed a playground to Harmony Place.

"That was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life," Jacobs said in reference to her charity work.

Jacobs' involvement with those living with HIV/AIDS was inspired by two factors: Her husband dealt with HIV-positive individuals as a doctor, and she could also see the impact it was having on the arts community she was so close to.

Some people think I should hang my head in shame when I say I'm from Akron, but I don't think so, not when there are people like this in our community. So here's a big thanks from RubberBuzz to Libby for helping others and making Akron an even better place.
