Metalmania in Akron

Music is alive and well in Akron. In fact, we just recently got a new label in town to promote our local metal bands.

Joe "Jozey" Zeitler has been playing guitar since he was 18, but the 39-year-old axeman and his trad-metal troupe Mob Scene have been a presence in Akron's metal scene for only the last two years. Now he's making up for lost time by launching Detained Records, a new label that he hopes will bring some recognition to Rubber City headbangers.[...]

Detained is set to launch July 2, with a CD release party for the label's debut, the compilation Akron Metal Assault, Volume 1. The disc will feature Mob Scene, Hatecore Inc. , Social Downfall, Ripcored, Vatic Asylum, Mo Rage, and Weapons of Mass Destruction -- bands that frequent such metal-friendly Akron clubs as Annabell's, Concrete Jungle, and Voodoo, but don't venture north much. The show will take place at R/E (117 East Market Street, Akron).

Though heavy metal and I aren't exactly best friends, I'm still excited to hear that there is a label around here promoting the local guy.
