Nuclear Battery

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about saving the environment and making longer lasting things. But a nuclear battery just seems ~~like a new way to blow ourselves up~~ a little hazardous. If I drop it, will it explode and take out a city block? Will I get some kind of crazy growth on my hand from holding the remote for too long?

A new type of battery based on the radioactive decay of nuclear material is 10 times more powerful than similar prototypes and should last a decade or more without a charge, scientists announced this week.

The longevity would make the battery ideal for use in pacemakers or other surgically implanted devices, developers say, or it might power spacecraft or deep-sea probes.

Oh, it's for pacemakers and rocketships, well, I guess that's okay, except I don't know if I'd want a nuclear device implanted in me. I can save my worrying until they're available in double A.
