What's a Mitzvah Day?: Update

I had no clue what a Mitzvah Day was. Thanks to The BJ, I now know what it is.

Mitzvah Day, which has been observed by Jewish congregations for about 15 years, gives congregants the chance to engage in community action.

As part of this year's efforts, volunteers performed a variety of services including cleaning up at area nonprofit agencies and landscape parks, coordinating games and events for children at various locations, and planting and gardening at shelters and agencies for the elderly, mentally challenged and disabled.

Sweet. Too bad I know what it is after the event.
