Drugs cause people to do crazy things, but withdrawl from drugs and the desire for mre are what really make people do stupid things. Case in point, Daniel Wright had to $200 a day crack habit. He went to rob a lady down the street whom he loved like a grandmother for chas to feed his habit. And how much money did he get?

Four dollars. That's why 82-year-old Rose Johnson's life was taken, according to a tape of the man who took it.

Daniel L. Wright, 23, told his mother in a recorded jailhouse phone call that all he got from Johnson when he robbed her on Aug. 8 was $4. He later changed that to $154, but those seated in Judge Marvin Shapiro's Summit County courtroom Friday gasped when they heard the $4 figure on the tape.

Wright, who lived a couple of doors from his Andrus Street neighbor in South Akron, was arrested three days after the attack.

Wright was on house arrest for driving under a suspended license. Johnson's house was within the 150-foot range of the ankle bracelet that monitored his whereabouts.

This is sad, just plain sad. My heart goes out to both of these families.
