Stopping Brain Drain

Finally, this is what Ohio needs to stop the brain-drain and start reviving our economy. Small businesses are key to keeping an area thriving and here's a great example of one.

The startup company [O-Web Technologies] in the village of Orange, a suburb southeast of Cleveland, specializes in Web design for PDAs such as Palm handhelds and Blackberries; it has 55 clients.

By way of introduction, each of its three founders uses the word ``senior'' on business cards: Senior Information Manager Oleg Fridman, Senior Project Manager Alex Yakubovich and Senior Sales Manager Stan Garber.

Thing is, all three will be juniors this fall at Case Western Reserve University. And while they juggle classes and work, it's likely that the 2-year-old O-Web will hit six figures in revenue this year, they say.[...]

As for O-Web Technologies, Garber hopes Wednesday's networking [at the University of Akron at a JumpStart Inc. event] pays off. He figures he and his two partners, who started their company by kicking in $75 apiece, will need venture capital to expand by the time they graduate.
