Akron Area Arts Alliance Invites Artists to Think Out of the Box
Akron, Ohio -- The Akron Area Arts Alliance (AAAA) has challenged area artists to ”think out of the box” and create original works of art to be auctioned during its Arts Alive! Awards Celebration on Saturday, November 12th. The Arts Alive! Out of the Box auction is a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents and gain name recognition. All pieces should follow the box theme and be made from, into, or around the idea of a box. In 2003, the more than 80 boxes donated by creative and generous area artists helped raise nearly $12,000 to support AAAA and its special projects. The boxes will be exhibited at AAAA’s Summit ArtSpace Gallery October 27 through November 5, 2005 and a special reception will be held to celebrate the contributing artists.

The biennial Arts Alive! Awards Celebration honors individuals and groups that enrich our community through their extraordinary leadership in arts and cultural activities. Awards will be presented for: Outstanding Artists in Music, Dance, Theatre and Visual Arts; Arts Volunteer; Arts Patron; Arts Outreach; Business Support of the Arts; Government Leadership in the Arts; Arts Educator; Rising Young Star/Artist, Rising Young Star/Leadership and Collaborative Arts Project.

In addition to the Out of the Box auction, the gala Arts Alive! evening, to be held at the Radisson Hotel City Centre, will include a colorful cocktail hour, cutting-edge film entertainment, a grand dinner highlighting the culinary arts and a lively awards presentation.
