8.23.2005It's OfficialI'm ashamed to say that I was born and raised in Norton.English is now the official language of the city of Norton. If you want "to honor those serving to protect the civil rights of Americans" why would you intentionally infringe upon those rights we fight so hard to keep? It is a true contradiction. Maybe it has something to do with George Tomko, the man who for years has pushed for this type of legislation. George Tomko, a Norton resident, dismissed those who may have criticized the legislation.I guess he means that honoring America means losing our past, refuting our heritage, and forgetting that many of our ancestors came here with little to no knowledge of English.
