8.02.2005Planet Buzz2003UB313. Surprisingly it's not a UB40 cover band, but rather it's the name for what could be the solar system's 10th planet. The object -- 96 times as far from the Earth as the Earth is from the sun, or nearly 9 billion miles away -- was first photographed in October 2003 by astronomers at the California Institute of Technology's Palomar Observatory, north of San Diego. The astronomers who found our little buddy 2003UB313 have already submitted a potential name for the planet-like object, but I really think it should be named after RubberBuzz. I like Planet Buzz or Rubber World. So if you ever have the chance to name a planet, keep those names in mind. CNN :: Astronomers claim discovery of solar system's 10th planet (joe :: Planet Buzz) |
