Flu Shot
It's that time of year again. Time to pick up Granny, take her to Acme, wait in line and watch her get a flu shot. Here's the list of people who get first dibs on this year's batch of flu vaccine.Anyone 65 or older, with or without chronic health conditions.
Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
Those 2 to 64 years old with chronic health conditions, such as heart disease, kidney disease, asthma or other lung diseases, diabetes, blood disorders such as anemia, or a weakened immune system caused, for example, by cancer or cancer treatment, HIV/AIDS or steroid therapy.
Any child 6 to 23 months old, regardless of health conditions.
Pregnant women.
Workers who provide direct, hands-on patient care.
Those who care for or live with babies younger than 6 months old.
Everyone over 6 months old who has been displaced by Hurricane Katrina and is living in crowded group settings. If you or someone you know falls into one of these groups, it's time to start fighting the expected lack of crowds for your shot. According to The BJ, the supply isn't supposed to be a problem. If you're looking for a spot to get you flu shot, check out this site.
