Ticket: Update II
So The BJ changed it's color scheme. Some of the text is now a weird yellow-ish grey. It's sorta ugly but I'm sure they payed someone out the wazoo to come up with that it.
Speaking of paying out, it looks like Akron's gonna pay out money from those automated tickets over a long time frame...Akron intends to refund most of the $106,550 collected so far in speeding fines for automated tickets as soon as possible.
But unless Santa can spare some nimble-fingered elves skilled in accounting and data entry, the refunds may not appear before Christmas.
The Akron City Council reduced the fines on Monday to $35 for all photo tickets, past and present, until its public safety committee reviews the trial program, scheduled to end Feb. 22.
The information for each refund must be entered into the computer a keystroke at a time because the electronic data supplied by Nestor Traffic Systems isn't compatible with the city's accounting software.
And there's another hitch. That accounting system typically is shut down to most transactions in mid-December so the city can close the year's books. That is scheduled to happen Friday, which would mean anyone not processed by Friday probably would have to wait until January for a refund. The BJ :: Ticket refunds could be a while
