Fun with Frank

What is it with drunk people and singing karaoke? Your voice doesn’t get better with each passing sip; your ears get worse. But I guess that’s what I should’ve expected at Frank’s Place located on West Market Street right by Merriman Road. Sunday night is karaoke night and you get to see the very best and the very worst that Akron has to offer.

I will admit that I enjoy karaoke nights at bars. Do I sing? No! I sit in the back of the bar and make fun of the really drunk men who think it would be a great idea to sing “Like a Virgin” at the top of their lungs. This is entertainment to me. I don’t need a mechanical bull or flawless decor; I just need really drunk people who are begging to be made fun of.

Frank’s offers the great mix of booze, people and live entertainment to keep me occupied. For Akron’s super-star wannabes this is a great place to display their talent which seems to grow exponentially with every beer. But for the designated driver without a scathing sense of humor, this could prove to be a bit torturous. For this, I recommend finding a new designated driver, or even better would be a taxi service.

Frank’s has a good selection of liquor, but what sets it apart is the atmosphere. This bar doesn’t know what pretentious means. If you come here, you’re there to have a good time. So relax, order a drink and get your name on the list to sing a song.
