Retro Fun at Fuel

Thursday nights at Fuel (located at 348 South Main Street) are 80’s night, but don’t tease your hair and get out your Heart T-shirt. Eight’s music sets a great backdrop for an evening with friends and an even better backdrop for half price martinis for the ladies. Fuel can be pretentious so make sure you’re going in there with the right frame of mind and friend to talk to and make fun of others with.

They have a large selection of unique martinis to try. I enjoyed the saki-tini made with vodka, saki and cucumber. Since many specialty drinks end up overly sweet, I was particularly happy to see this one on the menu. I also had a pair of dirty vodka martinis which came out very dirty. I happen to love martinis that way, but I know others who don’t, so be warned if you’re one of those olive haters.

If you’re a beer drinker, move on. Fuel has a decent beer list but it pales in comparison to 69 Taps just behind it. The beers that they do have are good, lots of microbrews and imports, but nothing you can’t pick up at the store. Oh, and hipsters beware, I didn’t see any PBR.
