Akron Restaurant ReviewsGood Greasy GrubDodie's Restaurant, 808 West Market Street, 330.253.7218 Everyone in Highland Square knows that Dodies is a great place for breakfast – crispy hash browns, perfectly constructed omelets with tons of cheese and other delicious innards. And the pancakes are fluffy and hot and come with real maple syrup. Plus the coffee flows continuously and the atmosphere is so “diner,” even if you don’t sit at the brightly lit counter. But did you know that Dodies no longer closes at 7pm, but 9pm? Did you know it’s a fabulous place for sandwiches and the Friday Fish Fry is Unbelievably good? Have you tried the homemade pies, cakes, breads, or muffins? The charm of this little diner extends way beyond breakfast on Saturday morning. My favorites? The club sandwich, the grilled cheese, the chili, any of the gyros (veggie, chicken, or traditional lamb), and, of course, the fish fry. And I can never go in there without ordering the fresh cut fries. They are the quality of the fries you get at a county fair – thick and fried to a perfect crisp while still holding on to the grease you know you want to eat. So, stop in at Dodies for lunch or dinner, try the sandwiches or better yet the specials, and be amazed that during the week you can get a table without having to wait. Grease is Good :
