Akron Restaurant ReviewsWith the New OwnersThree StrikesTwo Amigos Mexican Grill, 804 W. Market St., 330.762.8226 Two Amigos! One of my favorite restaurants… well was one of my favorite restaurants. A few months ago, Two Amigos switched ownership and the staff pretty much turned over. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back for some enchiladas. Too bad they weren’t my enchiladas. Yup. I got served the wrong thing. It was quickly corrected and the meal was decent, but a little greasier then it used to be. My next trip brought even greater disappointments. The chips and salsa used to be amazing, but this time the chips stale. My meal, tostadas, came out and they were pretty icy cold. I had a margarita so I dug in anyway not caring too much. I will admit that I took a friend with me that night that had never been to Two Amigos before. She loved her meal, though she did say it was greasy. Alright, third time’s a charm. My Negra Modelo came quickly accompanied by, guess what, stale chips! The group I came with ordered and when our meals came there was another mess up, they didn’t make one of the meals and my enchiladas had the wrong sauce on them. So third time wasn’t a charm; this time its three strikes and you’re out. And it's not just me who is having these problems. Check out the forums at HighlandSquare.org and see what others are saying. The pain: With the Previous OwnersI Love NachosTwo Amigos Mexican Grill, 804 W. Market St., 330.762.8226 I love nachos and Two Amigos makes great ones. They make their own chips with a uniquely yummy blend of garlic and some kind of red spice. You have to order their cheese dip to go with the chips. They have two kinds: plain and chorizo. Two Amigos offers great nightly specials featuring their Nuevo Mexican food. They have great Mexican pizzas and build-your-own burritos with an unlimited variety of options. They have quesadillas and, of course, yummy, yummy nachos. If you’re vegetarian, Two Amigos have done a great job accommodating for you by including vegetarian black beans as a substitution as well as adding vegetarian sauce as an option for any of their veggie based dishes (like the enchiladas). If you like margaritas then get the big margarita. I watched my waiter make mine and six shots went into it. If you like Mexican beers, Two Amigos has you covered. There is a display case that showcases their beers where Negra Modelo is proudly displayed. If you’ve never had a chance to try this beer, I recommend it highly. It went great with my chips, queso dip, and enchiladas. Be warned. If you are trying to come to dinner on a Saturday night, you’ll be waiting in line. They are limited in the space and have a reputation for great food and service, so stop in early and put your name on the list. They’ll call your cell phone when a table is ready. In the meantime, go have a drink at one of the area bars. Food in the Square doesn’t get better then this and at around $9 a plate, it is well worth the wait: 5 blimps. I Love Nachos:
